Evernorth's XRP Yield Plan Names Partners, Not Numbers

Evernorth plans to deploy its XRP treasury through four named partners from Q4. Size, returns and risk limits were not disclosed.

Evernorth's XRP yield plan is a stated intention, not yet a measurable program. The Block reports Evernorth will deploy its XRP through institutional strategies from the fourth quarter, naming Ripple, Kraken, Coinbase and BitGo as first partners, but the deployment size, target returns and risk limits were not stated.

The Ledger Desk · 3 min read

Evernorth has said it will move its XRP treasury from passive holding toward yield, but the announcement is thin on numbers. The Block reported on October 14, 2026 that the company holds 473 million XRP, worth roughly $648 million at current prices, and that deployment through institutional strategies is planned for the fourth quarter. Four partners were named. The size of the deployment, the expected return and the risk limits were not.

What Evernorth said it will do

Evernorth plans to start deploying XRP through institutional strategies in the fourth quarter, according to The Block. The stated goal is to generate earnings and grow holdings per share, rather than only accumulate more XRP. Ripple, Kraken, Coinbase and BitGo were named as the first partners, described as counterparties, with no detail on each one's role. Founder and CEO Asheesh Birla was quoted as saying the company is beginning with some of the strongest institutional counterparties in the industry.

Lending and DeFi come later

The Block describes lending and onchain DeFi strategies on the XRP Ledger as later expansions, to be added as those features become available. That sequencing is the company's own description, and no timetable was given. An earlier Block report on the chief investment officer hire said the strategy would move beyond buy-and-hold through lending, liquidity provision and other yield strategies, so the menu is broad while the first step is not specified.

Who is running the strategy

Hugo Jeandesboz, a former co-chief investment officer at Coinbase Asset Management, leads the strategy as Evernorth's chief investment officer, according to The Block. The outlet reports that his remit covers treasury allocation, liquidity management and active management of the XRP holdings, and that he reports to Birla. He described the approach as a treasury strategy, a risk framework and counterparties that could be explained to a public-company board. No risk framework document was cited.

What the reports leave open

The reports do not say how much XRP will be deployed, on what terms, or with what return target. The valuation also moves with price: The Block's October 12 report put the same 473 million XRP at roughly $672 million, against roughly $648 million on October 14. Neither report gives the per-XRP price, so that gap is arithmetic on rounded figures, not a stated price decline.

What to watch next

Three disclosures will show whether the plan works: the share of the treasury actually deployed, the yield realized after fees and counterparty costs, and the effect on XRP per share. The Block reported that XRPN opened Monday, October 12, at $16.68 and closed Tuesday at $16.48, relatively flat since its debut. Those prices say little about the yield plan itself. Evernorth's later results are the place to look for deployed balances.

What did Evernorth announce about its XRP treasury?
According to The Block, Evernorth plans to start deploying XRP through institutional strategies in the fourth quarter, with Ripple, Kraken, Coinbase and BitGo as first partners. The stated aim is to generate earnings and grow holdings per share rather than only accumulate more XRP.
Is Evernorth lending XRP or running DeFi strategies now?
Not according to The Block's October 14, 2026 report, which describes lending and onchain DeFi on the XRP Ledger as later expansions, to come as those features become available.
Why does the missing deployment size matter?
The Block's report gives no amount to be deployed, no yield target and no risk parameters. Without them, outsiders cannot judge counterparty or liquidity exposure, and the yield claim cannot be tested until Evernorth reports results.
