Zerohash AUTH Replaces Wallet Addresses With Approvals

Zerohash's AUTH moves crypto between linked accounts without pasted addresses. The charter and funding questions around it matter as much as the product.

Zerohash's AUTH is a bid to make crypto transfers feel like account-to-account payments: users approve a move between linked wallets or exchange accounts, and Zerohash handles routing and settlement. It matters because address-copying errors are a control gap, and the product arrives while the OCC charter application remains pending.

The Ledger Desk · 3 min read

Zerohash has launched AUTH, a service that moves crypto between a user's linked accounts without a copied wallet address, according to CoinDesk's October 19, 2026 report. The company announced it at Money20/20 in Las Vegas. The significance is less the feature than the layer it changes: the address, long the point where users make costly mistakes, becomes something the infrastructure provider resolves. That concentrates responsibility, and scrutiny, on the provider.

How the approval flow replaces the address

Per CoinDesk, a user links an exchange account or self-custody wallet, selects it inside an app that offers AUTH, signs in and approves the transfer, and Zerohash handles routing and settlement. Each app decides which assets, accounts and transfer types it permits. Zerohash has previously described a similar pattern for funding accounts without manual address input, in its World App account funding SDK. The mechanism is account selection and authentication rather than address transcription.

Coverage claims and what is live

Zerohash says AUTH supports more than 600 connections, and CoinDesk reports its developer documentation lists 639 wallets and four exchange or brokerage accounts. Named connections include Coinbase, Robinhood, Gemini, MetaMask and Phantom. Coinbase, Robinhood and Gemini are described as live, with Kraken in beta. The count is largely wallets, so coverage of the large venues is the figure that determines whether the product is usable at scale.

Charter and funding context

CoinDesk reports the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency returned Zerohash's national trust bank charter application in July, and that Zerohash refiled a narrower application on August 18 that remains pending. The same report says Mastercard acquisition talks fell through earlier in 2026 and that Zerohash was reportedly seeking $250 million at a $1.5 billion valuation. That raise is unconfirmed and should be treated as rumor until Zerohash or its investors confirm it.

What compliance and product teams should price in

When a provider routes the transfer, it also owns more of the control surface: which linked accounts are trusted, how ownership is verified at link time, and how reversals or disputes are handled. Teams integrating AUTH-style flows should ask who bears loss on a misrouted or fraudulently authorised transfer, and how account-link authentication is protected. The fix for the address-entry gap is stronger link verification, not just fewer clicks.

What is Zerohash AUTH?
AUTH is a service for moving crypto between linked exchange accounts or self-custody wallets without entering a wallet address or choosing a blockchain. A user approves the transfer in an app that offers AUTH, and Zerohash handles routing and settlement, per CoinDesk.
Why does removing copied wallet addresses matter?
Manual address entry is a recurring friction point and a source of misdirected transfers. Replacing it with an authenticated account selection moves the control from the user's clipboard to the platform's account-linking step. That shifts where operational and compliance risk sits.
Is Zerohash's funding and charter status settled?
No. CoinDesk reports the OCC returned Zerohash's trust charter application in July and that a narrower one was refiled on August 18 and remains pending. A raise of $250 million at a $1.5 billion valuation was only reported as in talks, and it is unconfirmed.
