The ring adds no new payment technology: it links to an existing CIB card through Fidesmo's tokenisation platform, a compatibility RingPay and CIB had already confirmed in late 2025.

The offer is a coupon, not a doorstep delivery

CIB Bank and Visa's July 15–September 30, 2026 campaign issues a redeemable code, not a ring shipped automatically, to customers who open a CIB ECO, ECO Plusz or ECO ForYou account with a Visa Inspire debit card, spend at least 30,000 forint on that card within a month of opening, consent to marketing contact, and pre-register on the promotion site before the account is opened, according to CIB Bank's own campaign page. Qualifying customers receive the redemption code by November 16, 2026.

The ring runs on existing tokenisation rails, not a new payment method

RingPay's ring links to an eligible CIB Visa or Mastercard card through Fidesmo's tokenisation platform, the same provisioning approach used for phone-based tap-to-pay, rather than any bespoke CIB or Visa infrastructure. CIB and RingPay had already confirmed this direct-linking compatibility in a late-2025 update, which removed an earlier requirement to route the ring through an intermediary Curve account. The September 2026 giveaway is a marketing wrapper around a technical integration that predates it.

CIB and Visa are absorbing roughly $85 in acquisition cost per qualifying account

RingPay's own campaign material puts the black ring's retail value at 31,900 forint (about $85), the cost CIB and Visa are effectively covering for every customer who completes the account-opening and spending conditions. That is a modest, capped acquisition budget compared with cash-back sign-up bonuses CIB runs elsewhere on the same ECO account — a sign the bank is testing wearable novelty as a cheaper draw than a larger cash incentive, not replacing one.

The account behind the free ring carries its own conditions

The CIB ECO account's monthly maintenance fee is waived only if the customer routes at least the Hungarian net minimum wage — 214,662 forint as of 2026 — through the account each month, and the Visa Inspire card itself turns from free to a 7,060-forint annual fee after the first year, per CIB Bank's published account terms. The ring's redemption conditions are separate from, and smaller than, the account's own ongoing fee conditions, which persist long after the promotion window closes.

Wearable adoption claims come from the parties selling the wearable

CIB framed the campaign as reaching young adults building on existing openness to ring payments, and Visa described bringing the format to Hungarian consumers alongside CIB, according to commentary RingPay published in its own account of the launch. The accompanying claim that over half of Hungarians aged 18-35 say they would try a payment ring is company-cited market research from the parties promoting the product, not an independently verified survey, and should be read as reported, not confirmed.
