Bitmine's ETH treasury reaches 6.04M tokens, 84% staked
Bitmine's weekly ETH purchase was small. The size of the stack and the share of it that is staked are what matter.
Bitmine added 12,535 ETH last week, lifting its treasury to 6,041,481 tokens, about 4.9% of Ethereum's supply. The purchase is small against the base, but 84% of the position is staked, so the balance sheet now behaves like yield-bearing infrastructure exposure whose dollar value tracks the ETH price.
The Ledger Desk · 3 min read- Bitmine bought 12,535 ETH in the past week and held 6,041,481 ETH as of Oct. 18, 2026, according to its own release.
- The company puts that at about 4.9% of the 122.1 million ETH total supply.
- About 84% of the ETH, 5,067,309 tokens, is staked, with annualized staking revenue projected at about $309 million.
- Total crypto, cash, marketable securities and investments were $15.1 billion, with ETH priced at $2,365 per Coinbase.
- The weekly purchase is roughly 0.2% of the stack, so the dollar total depends mainly on the ETH price.
Bitmine bought 12,535 ETH in the past week and held 6,041,481 ETH as of 3:00pm ET on Oct. 18, 2026, according to its release dated Oct. 19, which The Block also reported. The headline is the size of the position, not the size of the purchase. At about 4.9% of a 122.1 million ETH supply, the company is a structural holder, and its weekly updates read more like balance-sheet disclosures than trades.
The weekly buy is small against the stack
The 12,535 ETH added last week is about 0.2% of the 6,041,481 ETH now held, a ratio calculated from the figures in the release. The release says Bitmine has bought ETH every week since it began its treasury strategy on June 30, 2025, a claim attributed to the company. Continuity of buying is therefore intact. But at this scale, each weekly purchase changes the position very little.
The dollar total is mostly a price effect
Bitmine valued ETH at $2,365 per Coinbase and put total crypto, cash, marketable securities and investments at $15.1 billion. That figure includes $582 million of cash and securities, 215 bitcoin, and $254 million in two outside investments, Beast Industries and Eightco Holdings. Because more than 6 million tokens sit under a single price, a move in ETH shifts the reported total by far more than a week of buying can.
Staking makes the reserve yield-bearing infrastructure
Bitmine reports 5,067,309 ETH, about 84% of its holdings, as staked. It projects about $309 million of annualized staking revenue on the roughly 5.1 million ETH now staked, and about $369 million if all its ETH is staked via MAVAN and partners, using a 2.58% seven-day yield. These are company projections, not audited results. Most of the position is committed to validator arrangements, which adds yield and ties it to protocol and operator risk.
What this means for readers tracking digital-asset treasuries
Read these updates on three lines: tokens held, share of supply and staked share, rather than the dollar total alone. Check the stated price and timestamp in each release before comparing values across weeks, because the totals use different ETH prices. Then watch whether weekly purchases keep shrinking relative to the base, and whether the staking revenue projections are later matched by reported results.
