Avail's ShieldTX hides Hyperliquid positions from copy

Avail's ShieldTX opens each Hyperliquid perp from a fresh wallet. Its 63 bps copy-cost figure comes from Avail's own study.

Avail's ShieldTX, launched on 28 October 2026, tries to stop copy-trading bots from following Hyperliquid traders by opening each perpetual futures position from a fresh wallet. The privacy gain is reported, not independently verified: Avail's own study claims a median 63 basis points of execution cost, and no before-and-after comparison exists.

Avail launched ShieldTX on 28 October 2026, a tool that gives each Hyperliquid perpetual futures position its own wallet so copy-trading bots cannot trivially trail a large trader. The mechanism is credible and the problem is real on a fully transparent venue. The evidence for the benefit is thinner: the main figure is Avail's own estimate, the beta is small, and a full security audit has not yet been completed.

How ShieldTX separates a trader from their positions

Per The Block, deposited funds sit in a vault contract on Arbitrum, and each position opens from a new Hyperliquid wallet created by the service. Positions stay visible on Hyperliquid but are not directly linked onchain to the trader's original wallet. When a position closes, proceeds return to a shielded balance that can be withdrawn or reused. The service runs on Nightshade, Avail's zero-knowledge privacy infrastructure.

The 63-basis-point claim rests on Avail's own study

The headline number comes from the vendor, not an independent party. The ShieldTX analysis examined 332,317 Hyperliquid wallets over 30 days, picked seven traders from the top 100, and reviewed 25 apparent follower wallets for each. Potential copiers matched a trader's coin and direction within 60 seconds at least 10 times. From that, Avail estimated a median execution cost of 63 basis points per trade for the copied traders, adjusted for coin, size and volatility.

Beta volume is small and the audit is incomplete

The beta covers 75 traders, about $50 million in volume and more than 3,800 wallets created, The Block reports. Beta traders reportedly avoided copy bots, but no before-and-after cost comparison was provided. Avail says it ran multiple internal audits with external security consultants, and a full audit is underway. Until that report is released, the vault on Arbitrum remains an open custody question for the wallets it targets, those trading $500,000 or more.

Privacy is becoming a product category for onchain trading

ShieldTX is one of several privacy launches around onchain venues. The Block notes that Aster launched a privacy-enabled blockchain for its derivatives platform in March 2026, and StarkWare launched OffMarket in October 2026 for Polymarket users. Other third-party shielding services typically use one wallet per trader, which leaves trades and P&L public. ShieldTX's per-position wallets are the differentiator, and users keep one account-level history for audits and compliance.

What to watch: publication of the full audit, any independent measurement of copy-trading costs before and after adoption, and whether Hyperliquid's own team responds, since it was not directly involved in development. For desks weighing the tool, the practical test is the vault's custody risk against a vendor-estimated execution saving. The product is covered here as market infrastructure, not as a recommendation.

What does ShieldTX do?
It holds deposits in a vault contract on Arbitrum and opens each Hyperliquid perpetual futures position from a new wallet. Positions stay visible on Hyperliquid but are not directly linked onchain to the trader's original wallet, which makes them harder for copy-trading bots to follow.
How much does copy-trading cost the traders being copied?
Avail's own analysis estimates a median execution cost of 63 basis points per trade, adjusted for coin, size and volatility. That figure comes from Avail's study of seven top-100 traders, not from an independent source, and the beta provided no before-and-after comparison.
Is ShieldTX audited?
Avail says it has run multiple internal audits with external security consultants, and that a full audit is underway. No completed audit report was cited in the coverage reviewed.
